Black Friday Shopping

With the big sale day close, start to plan now and learn about goods and costs.

  • Read the Ads:
Look at the paper on Thanks Day. The Fri paper will have more sales and door bust deals. Join store email lists and look for deals and codes on their Facebook, Insta, and X pages.
  • Check the Fine Print:
The small print holds key facts in both web and paper ads, and it can say the sale price starts at the normal time, not the early door time, so if you shop in the odd hours, you may not get the low price you had in mind.
  • Judge the Deals:
Not all sale stuff is a real deal, so check costs at more than one shop, look up goods on the web while you plan or even while you stand in the aisle, and note that some shops will match a rival’s price.
  • Pick the Right Item:
A low price on bad stuff is no win, so read user notes on the web, even on sites that are not the same as the shop you use and check star scores on your phone in the store so what you read can guide your choice.
  • Use Coupons:
Some shops let you stack coupons with Black Fri cuts, so read the small print on each one, ask if it is still fine to use, and load or grab a screen shot of the code from the shop site before you head out.
  • Be Early:
Plan your path from shop to shop by open times and deal times, get there before doors swing wide since stock is small, and send kin to other shops if the hours clash as most stores have just a few of the hot deal goods and will not give rain checks.
  • Know the Return Rules:
Before you buy, learn if the shop has long or short return time, if they take a fee, give only store cash, or mark some buys as final, since that can change if you still want to buy.
  • Ask for a Gift Slip:
Get a gift slip so the one who gets the gift can take it back with no price shown, as with no slip the shop may say no to a refund or give just a swap or store cash for the low price it sold for of late.
  • Use a Good Card:
Some cards give free perks like more time on the make sure plan so you do not need to buy one in the store, and they may add pay back if the store will not take a thing back or if the price drops soon after you buy, so read your card rules or ask the card firm.
  • Use Price Guards:
Your hunt for a deal is not done when you pay, so keep an eye on the cost of what you bought, as many shops will give cash back if they or a rival cut the price sometime soon, even up to the week of the big day.
